This afternoon I headed out to Fairbairn to the Hustle & Scout markets, to check out the stalls from local designers and purveyors of Delicious foods.
I was also there to act as a Style Scout for the crowd, and I spent the majority of the afternoon stalking around looking for well dressed guys and gals to snap a picture of for the Hustle & Scout Facebook page. I'll have a blog post featuring my favourite menswear looks up at some stage tomorrow, and all of my Style Scouting images should be available on the Facebook page by tomorrow afternoon.

Daily Outfit: Monday Morning Battle Armour
Today, being the first day of the week, I decided to put a little extra effort in and build myself a formidable Monday morning outfit, to fight off any traces of Monday-itis, and to ensure myself a solid week ahead.
However, life seems to have missed the memo about dressing for the week you want, because despite my "Grant-means-business" get up and my spirit animal keeping me safe from my necktie; I still managed to have a fairly average-to-awful Monday. I've been in a sulk all afternoon, and my poor boyfriend has had to deal with veritable storm-clouds brewing around my head.

Daily Outfit: The Old Man and the Tweed
I have been tweed curious for a long time now, and the
idea of finding a tweed jacket or Blazer that doesn’t have me looking like an
escapee from a retirement home has become something of a passion.
With this in mind, when my mother told me she would be going on a thrifting excursion in a large country town, I asked her to look for a tweed jacket for me in a shade of blue.

Daily Outfit: Tuesday Prep
Today I went for a slightly more preppy look than I ordinarily would, and I really think that it paid off in spades.
I loved the look of this daily outfit, and I had several compliments as the day wore on. It's not overly fancy or really all that out-there, but I think that the conbination of colours really pulled together to make this outfit a winner.

Daily Outfit: Blue Aesthetics
When I see myself in outfits like the one I am wearing
today, I feel like living my life in only shades of blue really isn’t a
challenge at all.
I really respect people who have made dedicated
themselves to a particular style aesthetic, as I have said many times before,
and I find the wardrobes and daily style of these people infinitely more
inspiring than those who will happily wear any and everything.

Daily Outfit: Stepped-up Blues
I decided to step things up a little, being a Monday, and my daily outfit today was really channeling my Blue Goth aesthetic more than I have in recent weeks.
I really like how this outfit turned out and frankly I'm surprised I haven't thought to layer this cardigan, which I have had for years, before. It dresses-down the look, but without making it too casual, which jeans really would have.

Daily Outfit: Neutrality
I have to be wearing the least amount of blue in
today’s Daily Outfit post that I have worn in over six months now.
Since I started trying to cull every colour other than
blue from my wardrobe I have never really had a moment where I’ve thought to
myself “God, this is really difficult.” Or “Man, I just wish I could wear some
bright yellow.” Granted, I’m not being particularly gung-ho about the Blue Goth
look, but I do actively try to wear only shades of blue.

Daily Outfit: Sweats at Work
Today I am headed down to my parent's farm on the far-south coast for their annual Finnish Independence Day celebration; so I wanted a daily outfit that translated well into three hours in the car.
For transparency, I feel like I must say that I wasn't brave enough to wear the track pants to work in the end, even on 'Casual Friday', so I wound up changing them out for a pair of dark jeans.

Daily Outfit: Shades of Blue Goth
Despite the fact that I have been actively culling
every colour from my wardrobe except for shades of blue for almost six months
now; I still feel like I am a fair distance from achieving my Blue Goth look.
I’ve obviously got a few items of orange, and some of
white or grey, but the majority of my wardrobe is now shades of blue. On a daily basis I am wearing more blue than any other colour, and yet I still feel like I'm never truly acchieving the monochromatic perfection of my aestheticist peers Naomi, Nadia and Lucinda.

Daily Outfit: Risky Neon
The more time I spend thinking about my clothes and about style and fashion in general; the more I find I am willing to take risks with what I wear.
This is especially the case when it comes to dressing for work.
Having been away from the corporate work environment
for four weeks now, I wanted to ease myself back into the swing of things by
dressing down a little. I also wanted to wear something a little bright and
cheerful, to combat any negative feelings I might have about being back on the
9-5 working schedule.

Daily Outfit: Stockholm Island Hopping
I spent today Island Hopping here in Stockholm, Sweden.
Granted, this isn't the sort of Island Hopping that you might do in Greece, largely because despite the sun being out it was still very chilly. But, Stockholm is a city made up of a series of thirteen islands, and though you can easily walk between each, it is still Island Hopping in its own way.
Well, that is my story and I am sticking to it!

Daily Outfit: Aanekoski to Helsinki to Turku
Today we travelled from Aanekoski to Helsinki and then on to Turku.
The end result of the epic multiple city trip was to wind up in the port city of Turku, where we will be for 24 hours before catching a ferry to Stockholm for three nights.
We took a little stroll once we got here and then grabbed some dinner; but honestly we've mostly spent the evening relaxing in our hotel room. I did, however, find time to climb into a fountain so my sister could take my daily outfit photos for me.

Daily Outfit: Lakeside
For today's post I thought that I would show off some of the beautiful location where we are currently staying in a house by the Lakeside.
The nearest town is Aanekoski, and the Villa that we're staying in backs onto a truly stunning lake. When we booked it, I had all these visions of swimming in the Finnish summer evenings, rowing out to the nearby islands and exploring, and living in shorts and singlets.
Which is probably the sole reason Finland is currently experiencing its coldest summer in 50 years...

Daily Outfit: Arktikum
Today's daily outfit shots were taken at the Arktikum, by Mags.
The Arkticum is a huge, partially underground building with an immense glass roof, which houses a museum, and art gallery, and a science centre. Visiting the Arktikum was a very spur of the moment decision, but as we had no real plans today besides visiting the Arctic Circle line, it made sense. And I am so glad we did visit, because it is a truly beautiful building with some great exhibits inside.
It also proved to be a great location for my daily outfit snaps.

Daily Outfit: New Threads in Rovaniemi
Today we left Jyvaskyla and drove six and a half hours north to Rovaniemi, Lapland, where we will be staying for two nights.
I decided that this lengthy drive was the perfect opportunity to break in this gorgeous new 100% cotton sweater that I picked up at H&M yesterday for $19 Euros.I have been wanting something along the lines of this sweater since I touched down in Helsinki and started seeing example after example of hot Nordic guys in blue and white striped tops!

Daily Outfit: Shades of Blue
This daily outfit is another in a series of experiments in my Blue Goth wardrobe. With the exception of some orange accents, everything that I am wearing is in shades of blue.
Which, admittedly, is one of the reasons a colleague asked me which Smurf I was this morning.
My response was Grumpy, which in hindsight was one of the Seven Dwarfs, not one of the Smurfs.

Daily Outfit: Pleasant Pheasant
I was really unimpressed with all of my thicker
neckties, like this thrifted silk number with the pleasant pheasant motif,
until my friend and colleague Jarrah taught me how to tie a Windsor knot.
Now that I can do it, I can see the value of a thicker
necktie, and it is in fact my default way to tie my neckwear now. It just looks
classier than what I was doing, the name for which I don't know.

Daily Outfit: Shades of Blue
I'm starting to live my life in shades of blue, and I love it.
My outfit today is probably the first all-blue outfit that I have worn in a while that I have felt really pleased with, and not at all like I have forced the monochromatic upon myself. I wanted to play with the different shades of blue that I have access to and with the different proportions of the pieces of clothing, and I think that it worked out pretty well. What do you think?

Daily Outfit: Monday Moody Blues
It was a rather miserable and overcast day here in
Canberra, and it seems I dressed to match the weather. The moody blues of this
outfit could easily have been inspired by the view out my office window of the
gloomy Monday sky, the rain and the drizzle hanging over Mount Taylor. It
wasn’t intentional but it certainly worked with the setting.

Tangerine Dream:
These orange ‘Andrew Pant’ Chinos by Polo really seem to divide people. They either love the colour, or they hate it. No one gets around to discussing the shade of orange (dull tangerine to bright peach, they seem to change), or whether the pleating at the front works for or against my body shape (I’m thinking against); or even whether I should be shot for walking around with exposed hemmed cuffs! Everyone is stuck on loving or hating the colour.
